Making something together
The Portalwright’s Almanac follows an apprentice whose magical typewriter opens portals to other realms. It brings story, software, and play into a project I can make with my son.
Typing is how the player engages with the adventure: opening portals, choosing paths, and responding to encounters.
Building the adventure
I’m building the browser game with Phaser and TypeScript, bringing illustrated scenes, keyboard controls, narration, and saved progress together.
My son’s reactions help guide what I refine. The words need to be clear, the scenes need to make sense, and the controls need to feel like part of the adventure.
Where it stands
The project is in development. I’m continuing to refine the controls, scene layout, and full adventure.
